The Route

I have selected a route that is just over 4,000 miles long visiting several friends and family that live in various cities across the US.  I graduated from the University of Washington in June, 2005.  Now that I have completed my 5 year break from academia I am starting where I left off, in Seattle, as I move to where I will continue my education, at Harvard.  The route is broken up into 41 legs each 85-129 miles.  I will be doing 1 leg a day with a few break days mixed in, for a total of 43 days traveling.  Some nights I will sleep with friends or family, some nights I will sleep on the road, and probably some with strangers I meet on the way.  Here are the planned stops (listed with nearest city) with distances and expected dates; bold indicates I am planing to meet someone in that city:

What am I taking with me?

  1. i'm no cartographer, but it looks like you could shave some serious milage by going through Wyoming, South Dakota, and Iowa. What is it about those states that made you want to sweat an extra week to avoid them?
